Jess here from Orchard Blooms at Kempton

I just wanted to introduce myself to you all and give you a little insight into this flower farmer’s life.

To start, my flower fields have taken over a small part of Scholl Orchards here in Kempton where I live with my husband, Jake, and our 2 sons, Oliver  & Leo.  We couldn’t imagine raising our boys anywhere but in Kempton.

Throughout the different seasons, the orchard takes on magnificent transformations and we love and live for every one of them. My husband’s days are spent tending to the land and equipment as he wears many hats here on the farm. I couldn’t do what I do without him. My days for 9½ months out of the year are spent teaching elementary art, as I have done for the past 13+ years. Nights and weekends I dream and plan my flower farm, seed start, harvest, and arrange.

However, those summer months are my favorite. Every morning can be spent among the flowers, warm afternoons for arranging and processing, and evenings back up in the field if need be. There are no schedules, no 40 minute commute and no excessive amount of noise other than the occasional tractor and barking of our chocolate lab, appropriately named Flora.
